    IMO the Bjr sounds even better if you roll the mids down a ways more than you have it. I love that you backed the tone down on the guitar. I don't know why people dime the guitar knobs leaving you nowhere to go if you need to cut through the mix a little more, My Bjr has the C-Rex speaker and I'm delighted with the tone I get but I may have to modify the reverb as the sweet spot is hard to locate at a little over 1 on the dial. I do not care for the tone of the princeton especially when you turn it up and it goes all fizzy. Nice demo actually revealing the amp's tones. Thanks.

    Great guitar playing. The guitar sound, itself, is more rich, more complex, more interesting through the Fishman through my computer speakers (Monsoon planar speakers w/subwoofer). The textural details seem to be smoothed over on the Bose. Of course, RUclips and audio conversion may not best serve the actual in-person guitar.

    • @gair1944
      @gair1944 2 дня назад

      The Fishman is definitely more natural sounding in person. If that shines through in the RUclips I would say that’s accurate.

  • @jeffbellin8224
    @jeffbellin8224 2 дня назад

    I'm looking for an upgrade from a Roland Street Cube. I'm focusing on a Fishman Mini Charge and the Bose S1 Pro+. I'll be using it, as a singer/songwriter, with a ukulele accompanying my vocal. From your (really sweet guitar playing), the Fishman sounds better, more natural. In the store, the Bose had a bass boost, which gave it more bloom, but the textural harmonic aspects of both my voice and ukulele (as well as your guitar) come through more with the Fishman. In contrast, the Bose seems slightly muffled or more syrupy, with the inner detail of your guitar subsumed.

    • @gair1944
      @gair1944 2 дня назад

      @@jeffbellin8224 do you need battery power? If not I’m getting better performance from Gishman Loudbox Artist. It has more volume and projection than the mini. Also I run an Electrovoice Everse 8 battery power 8” PA speaker from the direct output of the Fishman as well. The eVerse 8 is a good battery powered option as well.

    • @jeffbellin8224
      @jeffbellin8224 8 часов назад

      Yeah, I want battery power. The Artist goes deeper, and as a consequence, will have more natural bloom. But playing the ukulele, it doesn't go as deep as a guitar. I had both the S1 Pro+ and Mini Charge at home in my backyard. With a Sennheiser E835 microphone, both my wife and I agreed that the Fishman sounded better, more natural. I don't know how much the Mini Charge will bottom out at louder volumes. We plan to take both to an open field and see. The Bose, as a PA speaker, seems more potentially versatile, but the Fishman seems more tonally accurate.

    • @gair1944
      @gair1944 7 часов назад

      @@jeffbellin8224 I agree with everything you shared 100%. All that is pure truth in my experience as well. You might check out the Electrovoice Everse 8. It is battery powered, but has an 8" speaker instead of the smaller Bose or Fishman Mini. Great battery life, stand mountable and has more projection and coverage than the Fishman. Could be a happy middle ground between the Bose S1 Pro and the Mini Charge.

    Peter Florence made great pickups. The first Strat I made was a body I got from Peter in the 90's. 50's contours in Seafoam Green. That was when his biz was called 'Wood 'n Guitars'. Sad that he passed. He was genuine & missed by many... ♥ your demos & your playing...

      Thanks for the kind words Rich. I agree Peter Florence was an awesome person. I spoke with him a few time in the years before he passed.

      @@gair1944 When I got another Swamp Ash Strat body from Peter, I asked him to make it @ 3.25 lbs & damn if it wasn’t right on the money. I was my gigging guitar while in a band. Had Kinman AVN Blues pickups installed. Great pups & they were dead quiet :-)

    Beware of your ears! On this video I liked the Fishman more, when I played both in person i liked Bose wayyy more. Reason being is far more headroom. The Fishman sounded good at low volume, but as soon as I tried to match volume to the same as the Bose for a hearable busking level, you could tell the Fishman was struggling and got real "tinny" and brittle sounding. The mids (that you cant change) on the Bose are a little much (Play the first G on the B string to hear the canny, mid heavy sound), but I can tolerate that over the tinny thin brittle sound of the Fishman. The Fishman only sounded good at the same volume that you could hear the acoustic naturally unplugged anyways. So without power to provide headroom its pointless. i tried the little black amp tommy emmanuel uses and found both the bose and Fishman sound better somehow. The taylor amp also was a bust. So $$$ doesnt always mean better. Its Bose for me, i look forward to ordering the wireless transmitter and gig bag! Also, the AUX input on Bose somehow has better tone than the other two inputs, so much so I am willing to sacrifice reverb to use it. Only the other two inputs have reverb. I turn off any gimmicky settings, just keep the bass and treble on noon and use my Taylor's eq for the tone. Check out my "you got a friend in me" to hear the Bose. Thanks!

      Thanks for your detailed comments. One thing I've learned with RUclips videos is the compression tends to level everything out in terms of volume. This makes it hard to discern levels of headroom or punch. I agree the Fishman Mini is insufficient in terms of clean headroom. Since I made this video I added a new battery powered contender: The Electrovoice Everse 8. It has an 8" speaker, an App for your phone with a lot of EQ / tone shaping capability. It has more headroom than the Bose S1 Pro or Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge and it has a very capable battery. It can also be stand mounted or tilted back on the ground.

    Do you think its possible to get a SRV tone with this Tone King?

    • @gair1944
      @gair1944 10 дней назад

      Yes I do but a lot of that tone is in your hands. The TK Imperial MKII serves a very classic blackface tone. You can get more sag using the attenuator and dialing the channel volume higher too.

    I watched another demo of the 10 and 12” and was very glad I got the 12”. However your comparison did the 10” speaker better, you get a very nice sound out of the 10 that I like better at times
